Hey, be honest, if you've never heard of the Paris Dakar rally, you've probably never read a newspaper or checked television. Paris Dakar is without any doubt the world's most famous rally. The Dakar is an endurance and navigation race between Lisbon and Dakar for cars, trucks, bikes and quads, covering 15 stages in 2008. Starting out in Lisbon, things are always off to an easy start. But, as soon as engines fire up in Africa, the battle starts...
However, this year's edition had been cancelled due to security concerns. Many fear it will the end of the famous race, but the organisation has pledged to return for 2009.

In 2008, the rally will cover over 9.273 kilometres. That is, if competitors find their way in one go. Tracks range from gravel roads, asphalt roads, deserts and rock gardens.
